Brilliant.

Twitter has suspended every single API key not belonging to a Twitter Blue subscriber.

Every. Single. Key. 9to5Mac’s? Dead. Apple’s for iMessage previews? Dead.

Every single API key has been revoked. The Twitter API is officially dead.

@TodayInTwitter and let me guess, they are sticking to the place instead of leaving?
@oblomov @TodayInTwitter Exactly what I came here to say. Not enough people/groups have the guts to trust their community to move platforms, and instead cowardly stay on Twitter, feeding a machine that slowly works to destroy them - and everything else.

@martincrownover @oblomov @TodayInTwitter Interesting that you just assume everyone on Twitter is in a position to just up and leave. Is my wife a horrible person because she's still on Twitter because her job automatically posts her articles from the website she writes for to Twitter? And that she has to engage with users there because of her job? Is she just supposed to up and find a new job?

To quote Obi Wan Kenobi, only the Sith deal in absolutes.

@rvaweather @oblomov @TodayInTwitter I don't know your wife's situation, but you should really think about the questions you've posed.

Nobody *has* to be on Twitter. That's just silly.

If supporting Twitter as it transforms into another far-right shithole goes against your wife's values, she *should* advocate for change at her org or find a new job.

If she supports new Twitter/doesn't care about all the harm that platform can - and does - cause, well... yeah, she might be a horrible person.

@martincrownover @oblomov @TodayInTwitter That is completely assinine. The problem is Musk and his lackeys at Twitter...the people AT Twitter, the people ALLOWING racist trolls to be on the site are the main problem here. For better or worse, Twitter became so engrained as a platform that trying to untangle from it isn't as clear cut and simple as you make it out to be. I'll concede that people who don't have jobs that involve a social media presence there can much more easily leave the site. I'll give you that.
@rvaweather @martincrownover @TodayInTwitter if your job depends on social media, and you have done nothing to establish a presence in the Fediverse already, even just one that is managed side by side with your Twitter one, you have *chosen* to paint yourself in a corner concerning your dependency on Twitter. And the latter you start on it, the worse it will be. It may not have to be clean cut, but doing nothing about it is definitely the wrong path to take.
@oblomov @rvaweather @TodayInTwitter Totally agree. Twitter is not an inevitability. It is not permanent or necessary. Thinking this way is giving it more credit that it has ever earned, even before Musk, and ignores the history of transience of social media.
