My dad was involved with the gardening club at his work. One of the things he did was to organise everyone's orders for rose bushes, and take the orders to the local nurseryman who provided them.
He took me with him one year (1971), as I shared his interest.
There was a new rose variety that year, called Whisky Mac, but it wasn't yet available in the nurseryman's catalogue, my dad asked if he had any available, the guy said yes, just to write it on the end of the order.

1/2..

2/2..
My dad died suddenly before the roses were delivered, but the Whisky Mac bushes duly arrived with the rest of the order (we didn't photograph everything back then, so I never got any pictures of it flowering).

Didn't expect Whisky Mac variety to still be available now, but it is, so I bought one last year, to commemorate what would have been his 100th birthday. And now it's got its first flowers.

And impressively healthy for a 50+ year old variety.
