I'm cynical of the official Pride because of the participation of the Garda (seriously? Even fter escorting fascists into libraries to remove books on top of everything else?) and the corporate sponsors but it was a glorious day and seeing my city so full of joy was moving and reassuring against the hateful attacks to LGBTQ+ people and rights.
To see so many people of all ages and nationalities (shout out to the Kurdistan Pride group) expressing themselves and supporting each other like it should always be, to have people take over the streets and be cheered from flats balconies, to feel part of a community instead of rejection from a society afraid of anything it cannot control.
