I honestly can't believe some people are still so backwards they think shooters aren't for women.
A lot of women I know play shooters, and they're also way better than me 💀
Games are for everyone.

@solarisfire @gamingonlinux ain't much into the public shaming part, especially since that specific comment was from a competitor of GoL. That's just drama nobody needs.
As for the shooter topic: same story but in ut2003 for me. We both rocked especially in CtF.
@gamingonlinux on the flip side I'm glad more stereotypical "girl game" genres are trying to open up to cis/straight men.
Games are for everyone!
@gpowerf @gamingonlinux Depending on when in the 1700's, views on women were pretty progressive, surprisingly. Don't have the link, but read an article that said that the 1600's to early 1700's had views that women were equal to but slightly different to men, and should have bodily autonomy like birth control and abortion.
Then the late 1700's and onwards undid that. Apparently women had more power in the past than past historians realized.
@gamingonlinux Indeed, I've played with women who are very good, better than me, the issue and toxicity comes when they try to use mics to communicate with the team, then the sexism and hate starts.
There need to be a stronger report system, and bans, even for first time offences, devs need to show it's unexceptable.
@gamingonlinux My wife and I played a bunch of Destiny 2 back before Bungie ruined it, and had a great laugh (her weakness is jumping puzzles), but also games like 7 Days to Die where we can clear PoIs as a team, rescue each other from sticky situations...
...and then spend a session prettifying our base with the loot. 😋
Something something the pair that plays together, stays together?
@shadesver @gamingonlinux Isn't War Thunder also for people who like to leak classified military operation manuals and spec sheets? Or am I thinking of something else.
"Loose lips sink ships, but I'm just typing and posting things on an internet message board instead of talking, so I'm sure the ships will be fine."
@gamingonlinux Agreed!! Some of my fav shooters: The Darkness, Borderlands series (esp 2), Mass Effect series, Fallout series (esp New Vegas), BioShock series (esp Infinite), Halo series (esp ODST), & the original Prey.
I also enjoy a bunch of on-rail shooters like the House Of The Dead games and Jurassic Park Arcade! Oh!! And The American Dream (VR)!
I don’t eff with PvP. I’m a co-op gal (unless it’s a “party game”… or halo on the couch with the fam💖). Usually story and writing are 👑 for me.
@gamingonlinux Yeah, that's a very backwards way of looking at things. I also wish that more game companies would realize that those women like co-op shooters, especially couch co-op shooters.
I don't know how many guys have played Army of Two with their Significant Other, Sister, Mom, daughter, etc.
Army of Two (especially couch co op) was very popular with women. If they kept the series going and made playable female characters, it would've been more of a success, imo.
