I just hope a lot of the bigger instances can do something to withstand the massive hit they're going to take from the user influx. I've heard some users have to wait ages to post on them, then you have folks like me on our own instances not able to see swathes of comments because federation is backed up.
I really like this platform, but those issues will turn a lot of people off.
If a few months when hard monetization measures take place more people will move.
Reddit wants to close 3rd party apps because they get in the way of their monetization program.
I wouldn't be surprised if we start seeing "paid only" posts over reddit, like in quora.
That only really worked for very unique phrases. The Frontpage of the Internet already has quite a few results on google because of reddit.
And Google is already not really indexing Lemmy and Kbin posts, so I doubt anything we post here would appear high on google search results
