Today we launched @cwts Leiden Ranking 2023 https://www.leidenranking.com. The ranking now includes 1411 universities from 72 countries.

I'm particularly excited about a project announced in the blog post: We're working on fully transparent version of Leiden Ranking based on open data. This aligns with ongoing discussions (e.g., at today's @vuamsterdam #RINN meeting) about responsible approaches to ranking universities.

Fun fact: When ranking universities by their percentage of open access articles, we now have a Dutch university at rank 1!

According to @OpenAlex, 95.0% of the journal articles of @universityofgroningen in the period 2018-2021 are open access, more than for any other university worldwide in the @cwts Leiden Ranking.
