I'm particularly excited about a project announced in the blog post: We're working on fully transparent version of Leiden Ranking based on open data. This aligns with ongoing discussions (e.g., at today's @vuamsterdam #RINN meeting) about responsible approaches to ranking universities.

@LudoWaltman @OpenAlex @universityofgroningen @cwts what happened to the legacy of Bernard Rentier, the pioneering VC tyrannical about open access at the University of Liege?
@LudoWaltman @cwts @leidenmadtrics @vuamsterdam @neesjanvaneck Is there any research on the reliability of the Web of Science data? From my personal experience, I would not trust it at all.
@stefanwagner @cwts @leidenmadtrics @vuamsterdam @neesjanvaneck Yes, there's a substantial body of research in the scientometric literature studying the quality of Web of Science and other bibliometric data sources. This literature yields a mixed picture. All data sources have strengths and weaknesses in terms of the quality of their data. Whether a data source can be considered reliable or not is likely to depend on the use case.
@stefanwagner it reliably indicates places that pay for rankings improvements!
