Secretaries of State and other election officials have a duty to keep Donald Trump off the ballot in 2024. Why?

It says so in the Constitution: Section 3 of the 14th Amendment.

Visit moveon.org/TrumpIsDisqualified to tell your state’s chief election official to keep Donald Trump off the ballot in 2024.
@rbreich While I agree with this sentiment, what happens if red states start to keep Democratic candidates off ballots? Let's just not vote for Trump or any Republican.
@kaydenpat @rbreich If they participated in a violent coup attempt, they should be disqualified. Grounds are important.
@rbreich Ron DeSantis is worse! He actually understands the policy process. Can we get him off the ballot too?
@JBliss @rbreich Unfortunately he hasn't violated one of the requirements to hold the presidency yet.
@rbreich Has anyone in Congress actually read the Constitution?
@gdeihl @rbreich it should be part of orientation. It's not a large document.
@JBliss @rbreich I agree, among other basic qualifications like passing a citizenship test, or basic high school history (including world history), science and math tests.
@gdeihl @rbreich actually I think people should have to do that before making it on the ballot. I don't think any idiot off the street should be able to wake up and say...ya know..I think I'll be president or a senator. Not anymore. Selfish, simple-minded, short-sighted anti-social Republicans are rooting up our democracy like a cracked out armadillo with their asinine law changes and overreach. It's absolutely dangerous what they're doing at the state and national level and they need to GO.
@JBliss @rbreich I agree. Any other job has requirements, or you don't get hired.
@gdeihl @rbreich agreed...and a probationary period that if they just can't pass the tests they get booted and the area has to reelect someone with some damn sense.
@JBliss @rbreich And maybe you showing up with pop quizzes now and then!
@gdeihl @rbreich and there should be a test!
@rbreich he has to be convicted first...
@rbreich Well, Trump earned indictments within 70 days of the Rocket Docket
The prosecutor just handed all materials over to Trump's defense team. With the judge requirements of not allowing Trump to take notes or discussions outside of the court, I guess he'll shut up or be put up in contempt charges that alone find himself in jail much less fined.

@rbreich Huh. Turns out somebody *did* think having someone who actively attacked the very fabric of democracy serve as a trustee of it again might be a bad f**king idea...

Also, just an aside: Could Orange Julius possibly have a worse, more wrong, less situation- and subject-appropriate inflection when declaring "I am your warrieh" (at about 2:05)? How can anyone listen to *that* and go "Yup, that's what a warrior sounds like"...?
