“Commander Vimes didn't like the phrase 'The innocent have nothing to fear', believing the innocent had everything to fear, mostly from the guilty but in the longer term even more from those who say things like 'The innocent have nothing to fear'.”
Terry Pratchett, Snuff (a Discworld novel)
@alexch @itisiboller @ShaulaEvans One of my favorite quotes from Terry Pratchett, other than Vimes' boots theory of economics.
This reminds me also of this gem from discworld novel The Truth (2000):
"He knew about concerned citizens. Wherever they were, they all spoke the same private language, where 'traditional values' meant 'hang someone'."
@alexch @itisiboller @ShaulaEvans it is truly remarkable how many amazing quotes DiscWorld has.
I am re-reading them all and I swear I have never made so many highlights in one book other that LotR.
