As an endgame, the entrance of #Meta into federated space would dwarf its current participation numbers. But it won't stifle them. Meta needs to receive as much activity information as possible to achieve its goals of processing and monetisation.

Choosing to defederate and to federate with Meta will happen regardless. Facebook already made the mistake of embracing the walled garden approach. Now they are trying to mitigate the results of it, and to achieve a long-term active user homeostasis.
