"And you shall teach them to your children, discuss them at home and on the road, bind them to your person, and inscribe them on your home" [Deuteronomy 6:7-9 paraphrased]

Today in the United States, it's Juneteenth, a holiday that commemorates when enslaved Black people in Texas were told they were free.

When right-wing people get angry about Juneteenth, critical race theory, LGBTQ+ awareness, etc., it's because what we teach our children is so important; what we discuss has power; being visible is meaningful. It isn't the end, but we are trying to teach our children better than the generations before us, talk about righteousness more openly, and be create a better world.

Juneteenth is a holiday commemorating the Emancipation Proclamation's message finally getting through against those who tried to stop truth and righteousness from being heard.

We will teach righteousness to our children, talk about it at home and in our schools, bind it on our person, and inscribe it on our homes and businesses.

Relocation will not commence until I think it through, because I actually love it here on mastodon social.

It's weird to have a personal Mastodon instance. It's cold and lonely, and you can't freaking search anything on the Fediverse without adding a relay to contact God.

And there's that little whiny voice in my head: "I already had to deal with my old Twitter handle plastered all over the Internet, not to mention--indelibly--on the back covers of my books. Not agaain!"

No, I am kidding, it's great: @cellfourteen

There is other options than Mastodon. Mastodon is privately owned. Owners are free to do whatever pleases them.

As an endgame, the entrance of #Meta into federated space would dwarf its current participation numbers. But it won't stifle them. Meta needs to receive as much activity information as possible to achieve its goals of processing and monetisation.

Choosing to defederate and to federate with Meta will happen regardless. Facebook already made the mistake of embracing the walled garden approach. Now they are trying to mitigate the results of it, and to achieve a long-term active user homeostasis.
