NieAThe Tokushoutsu channel on PlutoTV is showing movies this weekend, and right now it's Godzilla vs Hedorah. It's in a very familiar place narratively; I feel like I'm watching a Ghibli film. The environmental themes are very strong with this one. It's like Nausicaä, Princess Mononoke, and Pom Poko all rolled into one, with the polluted river spirit (or maybe Kaonashi/No-Face) from Spirited Away added in for good measure. I'll definitely have to watch this one all the way through sometime! The '60s psychedelia in some scenes keeps things interesting, too.
