GourdWatching the actor interview with Shunsuke Ikeda (Ichiro/Kikaider 01) and Daisuke Ban (Jiro/Kikaider) on the Kikaider 01 Blu-Ray and finding out that Mari/Bijinder was extremely popular with audiences at the time is nice... until you realize that Toei management aggressively learned nothing from this on purpose.
Also Hakaider was the most popular character with audiences and for merchandise both at the time and into the 00's (when the interview dates from). That both explains a lot about Gill-Hakaider existing (even if he's just a different guy with the same suit) and is treated by both actors as being highly unusual and basically unique for an antagonist to outshine the protagonist at the time.
And, if i'm right, is also the 25th anniversary of Ultraman Cosmos!

Interesting that, after a red Ultra this one will be blue. And based on what we see and what is said to us...maybe is a bit like Ultraman Cosmos... Which would be nice. And a bit different from usual.

This was the most violent Xmas episode i remember of any Super Sentai! The plan developed by the Nezirangers was good. And it worked. At least in part.
