It is confirmed that Reddit is forcing subreddits to open again. This is according to /r/antiwork moderators.

@vertana am curious who can delete a subreddit?
@stepheneb It used to be the original mod/subreddit founder. Now? It’s functionally Reddit admins. They can just bring your subreddit and mod list right back if they choose to do so.

@vertana Just manually deleted all my reddit posts and replies. Took about an hour. Interesting to see all the bits I had written flash by. More personal than using a tool to do it automatically. There was a great deal of kindness in what I wrote.

It was pretty funny to see that r/pics and r/gifs have decided that only pictures of John Oliver will be allowed.
