@eberhofer I agree! This Christian Nationalism has been thrust upon a primarily evangelical crowd. Not only is it inconsistent with my personal faith, it was virtually unheard of 30 years ago.

I grew up in a very conservative Southern, pentecostal evangelical family. They were focused (too much, imo) on the afterlife and having faith that God would meet their needs.

This is the opposite of seizing power by force and making people obey your worldview. IMO, this is another ascpect of a few billionaire's plan to gain power. They have astroturfed this to look grassroots, just like the Tea Party & Brexit was.

@eberhofer There was one small thing that I witnessed, combined with January 6, that convinced me we had crossed the Rubicon.

On this random residential street in Tennessee I saw a Christian flag. You might be surprised that there is even such a thing, but I was not. I even grew up saying the pledge to the Christian flag.

Sounds weird, right?

In the 80's and 90's, unless you were on a Christian Identity militia compound, there was a 0% chance they would have the Christian flag ABOVE the USA flag.

Not only is that against the flag code, but it would've been considered unpatriotic and extreme.

There are several versions of the pledge. Of course we did the more militant version.

"I pledge allegiance to the Christian flag, and to the Saviour for whose Kingdom it stands; one Saviour, crucified, risen, and coming again with life and liberty to all who believe."

I'm assuming that they've added a line about AR-15's in there now. #Evangelical #TVAC

@eberhofer I made a John Brown-like resolve on that day to fight White Christian Nationalism, by any means neccessary.

If John Brown was alive today, the decades period that he fought slavery before taking up arms would've involved the Fediverse & online forums. He would've used it to organize the underground railroad and communicate with independent cells of resistance.

The other way is to take the info and stories from the Fediverse into other online spaces. That Christian flag pic was my first post in a thread about "White Christian Nationalists & other US Fascists". I started that thread on a General Discussion board of a Southern jam band, that I have been on for 15 years.

That was 2 years and about 1,000 posts ago. Others have joined in to link to relevant news stories about the rising fascism. IMO, that unrelated connection of music & a band makes a difference in piercing the bubble.

This is the sort of thing that I would like to coordinate and amplify with the upcoming Southern Antifascist Artist Activist's instance tva.community.

Please let me know if you are interested. I intend for it to be Southern focused, but would love for other people to duplicate it for other regions & countries.

If you are so inclined, you should be able to read more along these lines by clicking on #ArtFED & #TVAC

Look at how many awesome people we had participating in this conversation! Imagine what we could do with group chats, channels, a drive & public-facing web pages!

@SrRochardBunson @eberhofer I hear you Dock. I know the flag you are talking about, have seen it plenty of times. And yes, that is an extreme action, flying any other flag above the American flag is a coded message. Show your colors is not just a gang thing. Although in one interpretation perhaps this is a gang sign, just a different gang.

@Wolleysegap @eberhofer

You definitely get what I'm saying! I can confirm that it is still that way over a year later.

They are starting to look more and more like a gang.

Dozens of members of the neo-fascist, white nationalist group Patriot Front marched through the streets of Austin Saturday. The group did not announce the demonstration in advance, leaving no time for opposition groups to mount a counter-protest. It was the largest public gathering of the group’s members since they held a similar march in Washington, D.C., on May 13.

Researchers have identified dozens of members of the white nationalist group—and no, they’re not “feds.”
