Anyone who accepts a peerage via Boris Johnson in the coming months is spectacularly guilty of not reading the room (assuming Sunak and the Lords actually proceed with them now).

Also, I don’t get it: what does anyone standing up for, or defending, Johnson at this point think they stand to gain? He’s toxic, a spent force in politics. They should be distancing themselves, not repping for him on BBC News
