Szymon Sokół 🇵🇱🇪🇺🇺🇦@meena During Worldcon in Helsinki in 2017 I got a badge that spelled my family name - Sokół - as SokóŠ(clearly misinterpretation of UTF-8 as ISO 8859-1). When I said aghast to one of the staff "You Finns have letters like ÅÄÖ, you should know how to handle Unicode", he meekly answered "The attendee database was delivered by Americans…"
I wonder how it'll go next year in Glasgow.
Correction: I apparently mixed up two Worldcons: my badge from Helsinki says just "Sokol", while "SokóÅ" happened in 2019 in Dublin. Apparently they at least tried…
