@joeygibson it's owned by a corporation. corporations want to make money. people chatting costs money to host, but doesn't make money. ergo eventually they will do terrible things in an attempt to make money. yay capitalism

@jkohlmann @textfiles @JordiGH The only exception is Freenode, which was a hostile takeover. But the new ownership drove it into the ground within a week or so.
