I made a (well-coordinated) LED tote and crossbody bag using the technique of 3D printing translucent tiles onto tulle and inserting them through corresponding holes in the bags' front panels. I sewed long zippers in the lining of both bags to make it easy to access the interior, and attached a flexible LED string behind the tiles with hot glue. A #Pixelblaze controller inside each bag makes it easy to run synchronized patterns. I'll be writing up a "how to" guide on them for @makemagazine.

These are incredible! If you feel like making them to sell I would definitely buy one!

@halo @makemagazine thank you! I did think about doing that, but I think that I'd have to charge a prohibitively high price to make it worth my while. It would help a lot if I got someone else to do the sewing for me, because it's just not an efficient use of my personal time. Hopefully the tutorial will help make this project accessible to others.
@geekmomprojects
That is absolutely fair enough. I'm not an electronics nerd but my partner is, maybe the present can be doing it as a fun project together instead of the finished item 😊 thanks so much for sharing - inspiring!
