A few weeks ago I took a backpacking trip to South Manitou Island with my partner and my partner's partner. It was pretty eventful, and we had a great time!

There ended up being more people on the island than there were campsites. Apparently this was the first time this has ever happened lol. There is generally no dispersed camping, so rangers advised that we camp at the historic farms on the island to reduce our impact on wildlife. Some of these were restored 1800s buildings that were normally sightseeing destinations.

We visited for the first time last year, but it rained the whole time lol. It was nice being able to enjoy the sun and explore the rest of the island!

We found a ton of trilliums on the island! There were more varieties than I'm used to finding, which was fun. Normally I only see white ones, but here they often had pink petals, or streaks of green. They were also much larger than I'm used to, probably because nothing is eating them.

I even found one with four petals, that I'm calling a #quadrillium

I also drew a lil bit. I didn’t have time to color it, but I doodled the barn that we were camping in front of

The island mostly had frogs, garter snakes, chipmunks, and mosquitos. It was exciting to see anything else.
