After a day of poking around #Lemmy I've learned how to:

- Find a server
- See who that server is federated with
- Make a profile
- Join/search for communities

Plus, a few tricks on joining communities when they don't show in search!

Learning about Lemmy – A Fediverse Version of Reddit

With all that’s happening at Reddit as of late, I’ve started to hear about the Federated versions of the social platform, namely Lemmy and kbin.

@Aywren thanks for doing that. Subscribing to communities on other instances has been driving me mad.
@emsquared Same! I wad bound and determined to figure it out, though! 
@Aywren As I understand it many Lemmy instances might not see a search target until one person has found a way to subscribe. Via your guide I eventually got on better searching & subscribing to various sources so thanks again for taking the time to write it up.
@emsquared Yes, this is exactly what was going on! I looked back at the ALL list and saw the communities that I joined that weren't previously listed! Thank you! (I'll get around to updating the article to reflect this!)
