Wonderful that you’ve stumbled across the programme, but I’m sorry to write to both of you regarding a few fundamental misreadings:

1. Such violent tone shifts are not intentional — the current presenter has been under fire since taking over for her interview style (previous presenters were v beloved)

2. The format is intentionally structured to use the songs as a way to navigate biography, and often loosely correspond to a the interviewees personal chronology. Ideally, the songs dovetail with personal highs & lows, as contextual markers in dramatic life lived
