you might not notice or care, but to me, it’s like reading this:

@BenRiceM Now imagine you’re German, and you get confused between normal German quotes „“, German print quotes »«, Swiss-German quotes «» and English quotes “” (note the closing quote in English is like a 99, while the closing quote in German is like 66 in Serif fonts).

I *always* have to look up which is which.

@a2 @BenRiceM Yeah, they “inherited” the Guillemets from the French part of the country. It's even more confusing because Switzerland gets flooded with content from Germany, so many Swiss people aren’t even aware why they have 3 different kinds of quotes (because most non-typographers use the German „“ quotes in printed letters and on web sites), and mostly only books and magazines use the reverse guillemets »«, and only a minority of content (the stuff made in/for Switzerland) uses theirs «».
