Thank you everyone for replies! I wasn't going to use anything I wasn't sure if! It’s frustrating because they have every other kind of cleaning liquid in the apartment, plus they have tabs for the washing machine. It seems odd to have a dishwasher in a Paris apartment at all, so perhaps they don’t stock the dishwasher tablets. We’re only here for a few days, so it doesn’t make much sense for us to buy them. I just was trying to go to washing dishes for several days. But I guess I will!

@glennf errr no? I’ve never known a house or flat without a dishwasher (unless in a very cheap student flat) and I’m 43…

@_pierre_ I was severely misinformed! The fellow who got us settled into the rental implied it was rare too! Oddly, they are pretty variable in America. Older apartments often lack the plumbing (and space in big cities).

@glennf I think he was trying to “oversell” his rental, or maybe he was implying that not all airbnbs in Paris had one (I doubt it). Many Parisian apartments are optimized for this, including the not uncommon rack of washing machine + dryer on top of each over hidden in a cupboard of some sort :) - which district / arrondissement are you renting in (if you want to share)? Don’t hesitate if you have any days left and need recommendations for stuff to visit / do.

@_pierre_ Thank you for the offer! We're in the 10th and going to Versailles (tour, AC on bus, our one big luxury) and then off to London! The 10th is pretty great. We're enjoying it a lot. Did the Catacombs, Louvre, Centre Pompidou, Musée des Arts Decoratifs...I wish I'd had time for Rodin but was too hot and tired this afternoon. I also love d'Orsay but didn't have room.
