As hundreds of thousands of federal employees and members of the military know… if we deliberately took home a single one of the documents listed in the Trump indictment… we would take the plea and do 20 years. The law is clear. If we showed it to people, we’d do life. We ALL know that. Why the hell isn’t Trump in prison right now?
@EeeeWooo if Jan 6 taught us one thing, it’s that our justice system at the federal level is a joke when it comes to prosecuting rich people. You’ll notice the poors were arrested and tried with a quickness.
@OGjester @EeeeWooo No what you notice is the system working the way it always does. You snag the minnows, some flip, then you snag the next bigger fish and some of those flip and on and on till you get to the biggest fish. When you do it that way the convictions that matter are airtight and stick. Also those hundreds of convictions of the minnows are what kept his indictment from being like Jan 6.
@EeeeWooo Money is a cloak of invincibility?
@EeeeWooo Trump isn’t in prison because he’s rich and corporate Republicans and Democrats run this country.

@EeeeWooo

Trump has the backing of several dozen billionaire donors, foreign & domestic.

They shielded Trump from consequences until it was clear Trump was cratering the electoral prospects of their puppets, the GOP.

That is why Trump is free

Oligarchs, theocrats, kleptocrats & plutocrats.

Koch. Murdoch. Griffin. Uihlein. Schwarzman. Ellison. Thiel. Yass. Musk. Mercer. Adelson. Bigelow. Wynn. Dunn. Wilks. Barre Seid. Putin. Singer. Marcus. Bradley. Scaife. Mellon.

@EeeeWooo Well, Trump deserves a fair trial. And he will hopefully get a fair sentence.
@EeeeWooo Waltine Nauta *was* a member of the military. He served in the US Navy for 20 years before Donald Trump, Trump's PAC and Trump's campaign organization corrupted him. If I were a criminal defense attorney I'd be chomping at the bit to represent Nauta.
@EeeeWooo They need to convict him before they can do that.
@orc who told you that? Cuz that’s just not true.
@EeeeWooo afaik people are put in jail pre-trial, then prison at conviction

@orc yikes. This is the kind of reply people used to do on Twitter to try to distract from the actual point. Why are you bothering? It’s a meaningless argument. He should be locked up.

Anyway here you go: “Federal detainees are generally housed in a Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) detention facility pending the outcome of the criminal case. In some, but rare instances, federal detainees can be held at local county jails pending trial and sentencing.” (The jail ->prison thing isn’t federal.)

@EeeeWooo I guess I'm looking at it as more than detaining someone as opposed to punishing someone. You'd detain someone so you can try them, punish them afterwards, but if you believe they will voluntarily show up at the court the pre-trial detention isn't necessary.

The short-fingered vulgarian is a stupid -- and very vain -- man. All indications are that he'll show up at the courthouse so he can emerge victorious against the deep state(tm) so what reason, aside from revenge, is there to lock him up when he can remain free and further incriminate himself before plopping down at the courthouse?

(Edit: duh, I'm an idiot. You'd also jail someone if they're a continuing threat. You are completely correct and I am wrong.)

@orc actually you’re marvelous and I’m glad we connected.
@EeeeWooo because hes rich and America is an oligarchy

@EeeeWooo

What blows MY mind is how many of those federal employees, vets, current service members, et al. either cannot wrap their heads around how serious this breach is, or simply don’t care.

So much for the “patriotism” of the #MAGA right.
