June 10, 2013: Apple Introduced iOS 7
A controversial shift to extreme minimalism with Jony Ive at the design helm, iOS 7 redefined the course of UI design for the Apple Software up until his departure in 2019.
@BasicAppleGuy Can we go back to skeuomorphism with iOS 18 please Apple 😅 in all honesty surprised they haven’t brought the macOS icon set over to iOS and iPadOS yet.
@BasicAppleGuy really forgot how ugly it looked - glad that the pendulum has swung back somewhat
@BasicAppleGuy Still love the name „Passbook“.
@BasicAppleGuy and I was there in person when the release came out. Such gasps from the audience at WWDC.
@BasicAppleGuy I gotta say I really loved this design.

@BasicAppleGuy that intro video is an all-timer for me
@BasicAppleGuy I actually loved this design. To me, it instantly made iOS 6 look hugely dated.
@BasicAppleGuy My only real issue was with the Calendar app. Ten years later and I still haven’t gone back to using it, though part of that are the additional features in Fantastical and Calendars.
@BasicAppleGuy only thing missing from those images is the use of transparency throughout the OS and the layers (control center on top of everything, apps stacked in multitasking view and so on).
@BasicAppleGuy it's cool to see just how much of the original UI designs from this have stuck around and still feel contemporary now. They've evolved, but many of the fundamentals are still in place
@BasicAppleGuy Seems like I’m in the minority based on the replies, but I loved the design shift of iOS 7. Minimalism has always suited phones, and it popularized “ultrablur”, which I’ve always loved.
