I have zero faith in Steve Huffman’s ability to lead Reddit.

What kind of chief executive officer posts this comment after a massive community backlash? https://www.reddit.com/r/reddit/comments/145bram/addressing_the_community_about_changes_to_our_api/jnk45rr/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1&context=3

Addressing the community about changes to our API

He’s continuing to act like a petulant child instead of a business executive

At least Twitch is smart enough to back the hell off when they make mistakes (like they very publicly did this week), not triple down like Reddit.

We might be witnessing the downfall of a pillar of the internet because Steve Huffman couldn’t keep his cool over a nice indie developer who truly loves his platform.

What a dolt.

The main cause is apparently ChatGPT and everyone under the sun scraping all of Reddit’s data.

Why not make an API for true clients vs the firehose?

@matthewcassinelli He acknowledges the 30 day deadline was tight. Understatement of the decade. 🙄
