Alright, time to catch up on the #SummerGamesFest!
Will post some of my thoughts here while watching the show. :)
First is a new #PrinceOfPersia game from #Ubisoft! 😮

A return to the series' sidescroller roots! Not huge on the color choice and character designs, though... Also, who gave their blessing for that music track?! 🤨
Gameplay looks fluid and fast, but also a bit... ordinary? What's the hook? What's special about it? Will there be time rewind?

@vacuumbeef Yeah... 🙁 Have seen multiple positive takes on this trailer already, most of them along the lines of "Back in MY days the game was a sidescroller anyways!!!"
Yeah, but back in YOUR days the game also had some novel ideas a visual identity and a soundtrack that wasn't eyeballing the charts...
@njamster I'm just very nostalgic for Sands of Time trilogy... what if they'll make Assassins Creed: Sands of Time one day. Like AC is successor to PoP, I feel it's the only possible way to see something at least a little similar to what I want.
@vacuumbeef I have really fond memories of the Sand of Time trilogy as well! So, regardless of how this particular game will turn out, I'll treat it as positive sign that Ubisoft is at least continuing the franchise at all. I'm just afraid it will "flop" (i.e. not perform up to Ubi's standards) and they'll bury it again... 😨
@njamster Yeah maybe they're at least considering to continue it. But something wrong with their decisions. I just remembered that there was a Sands of Time remake recently, was it even released? I feel everything goes wrong.
But, on the other side, that was just a trailer, who knows
@vacuumbeef Sadly not, no. Originally, the remake was a project of Ubisoft India, but they moved it over to Ubisoft Montreal a while ago. Which actually might be a good thing, though, since that studio was responsible for the original as well.
However, they posted an update a few weeks ago and according to this, they're still in the conception phase (read: the game doesn't yet exist). Which is kinda wild since we already saw gameplay – they rebooted the entire project!

@njamster Hey have you seen new gameplay for PoP? Looks like I can change my mind, for me it looks way better than it felt after the trailer. It even seems to be metroidvania? Interesting

I agree, the gameplay trailer made it look a lot better! I'm still skeptic about a few things, but we'll see...
