Not quite. "Boost" is closer to (and a better description) of a "like" on twitter.
I think the idea was to do something similar, but I'm of the opinion that most "mastodonian" thinking on this is wrong: Being able to *directly* retweet/repost/quote etc. does far more GOOD than harm (related to the fact that I think reposting of what some consider 'harmful' content is more good than harm. E.g. vids of police brutality, etc)
@jrm4 likes are just stars/favorites though? I think those don't really have impact in visibility of a toot.

I do agree that boosting with comment would be nice to have.
yeah. I guess that's about right. Hard to explain exactly why it just feels different, but goes to show how the tiny subtle differences end up meaning a lot
