How many of you have pulled the plug and deleted reddit already?
I requested my data this morning, once I get it, I'll delete my history. But reddit will almost certainly still be far too useful, and as long as old exists, my main access is there. Though I'll stop using it on my phone, but that's rare anyway.
There currently is simply no alternative, lemmy is still far too rough around the edges for mainstream-ish adoption, it even feels a bit too rough for me (mainly because it's more new.reddit meme inspired than text old.reddit and because accessibility is bad)
I've read comments from some people that got their requested data only several months after the request. In the meantime, I've used PowerDeleteSuite to pull a backup of everything it could find (read their issue tracker for how to work around some export quirks) and will let it replace all my posts with
[This comment was deleted due to Reddit’s new policy of killing the 3rd Party Apps that brought it success.]
as long as the API still works.
