I think Apple have overshot with Vision Pro. It’s not a compelling environment to work in. It’s not a compelling device in social situations either. The compelling use case is solo media consumption. I think in the end we will see a very stripped down version that basically just plays videos. An extra (immersive) screen. The AirPods of video.
@drewmccormack Exactly what I thought before I read Gruber’s review. Now I’m not so sure. I can foresee the day when big monitors on our desks seems so quaint.
@rosscarter I’m sure it is impressive, but I think probably also a bit oppressive to wear all day. Can imagine it is like wearing a diving mask, where you feel relieved to get it off and can breath again.
@drewmccormack although I agree, I would add “for me”. I can’t say what’s compelling to others. I live in this world very differently than, say, 20 and 30 year olds who came up differently than I
@drewmccormack That's close to opinions I've heard from people in my local spheres as well. "It's Apple's TV" someone said.
@drewmccormack I’m very excited for it and think it will be a computer I work in and hope at least the iPad version of Agenda works well in this environment with the trackpad/keyboard setup - this is a very compelling product for me and excited what native apps look like here
@tchaten We are told the iPad version does work well, so much so that the Agenda icon got a couple of cameos in the keynote :) We’ll see I guess.
@drewmccormack I could see that ... a lightweight accessory to your iPhone.

@drewmccormack I'm very much looking forward to owning one and experiencing that environment. But maybe I'll think differently once I've had a chance to try one out. All the YouTube reviews seemed to gush over it. And as an indie app developer work by myself anyway. My wife and I watch TV and movies together in the evening and then she goes to bed and then I work on Tap Forms and watch movies or TV shows solo.

So it'll be interesting to see how it fits into my routine.

@drewmccormack certainly get fatigued after wearing Quest 2 for an hour or two, but idea and cost of replacing two or three big monitors appeals. Interesting that it sounds like part of setup is establishing which face mask part to use for comfort. Shall reserve judgment until trying one though.
@drewmccormack Wow…I didn’t see that kind of opinion coming!
