So I have been smelling jasmines in my living room at night.

Besides spooky πŸ‘» reasons I realize that maaaaaybe I have a jasmine plant at my balcony? Can anyone tell me if this is jasmine? πŸ˜†

@liztai sure looks like a Jasmin :) the PlantNet android app is rather useful for this kind of questions !

I used your photo to use its identifier feature :)
@bchhun Very cool! This is a relief indeed as Malaysians believe that if you smell jasmine (if the tree is not nearby) that means you have a visitorπŸ‘» πŸ˜†
@liztai
Looks like Star Jasmine. Do you live in the North? I understand people put Star Jasmine in pots there.
@joewynne I live in Malaysia, so way south 😁
@liztai Waaay south. πŸ˜† It's worth checking to see if your version could be a spectacular vine. A little larger pot and a stake or simple trellis could give you a lot more impact. If you like, I can post a pick of a full vine for inspiration.
@joewynne ooh yes please. Pretty sure mine doesn't grow like a vine though - ours are more like shrubs

@liztai
A bush variety will work fine. Give the roots more room to grow, consistent with the amount of room you have, and you should be able to produce a thicker green foundation of leaves and more wonderful flowers to be displayed with their intoxicating scent.

Here's inspiration I found in a recent trip to Savannah, GA, USA, where a vine variety was used to surround an entrance. That's impact for eyes and nose!

@liztai it looks like star jasmine to me!
@angry_hagfish Awesome
To think I didn't realize I bought jasmine lol

@liztai

It looks more like frangipani.

@LionelB The flowers are not quite the same - it is smaller, and looks closer to jasmine
