@maxkennerly I'm not convinced the Russians blew it up. The early pictures are consistent with simple mismanagement (or deliberate sabotage), leaving the spillway gates closed while the water level rose. If it was a deliberate explosion, I'd expect the entire spillway to have been demolished at once, rather than starting with two small breaches.
