Even Apple can't QUITE humanize the dystopian hellscape we're evolving into. #WWDC23
@danielpunkass the front facing screen somehow makes it much worse. Let’s not normalize someone wearing a huge headset and pretend it’s like talking to someone that’s actually paying attention to you
@yertle @danielpunkass yeah, especially the scenes with a parent interacting with their kids while wearing it.
@mingo @yertle Yep. Totally heartbreaking.
@danielpunkass I continue to find these products to be solutions searching for a problem.
@buck @danielpunkass I disagree. It might not be for you but if they actually do the multi display thing and quality, then this has solid value just as a home desk setup anywhere in the world you travel. And with more flexible work, having a 5 monitor desk at a small Airbnb is pretty valuable. It’s not a mass market product yet but there’s potential
@kaplag @danielpunkass Let's wait and see on that -- so far we've seen the usual polished Apple hype/PR presentation. Every one of these headsets always talks a big talk -- and usually disappoints versus the marketing in some way.
@buck @danielpunkass yea fair point for sure. I’d have to see it in person. But theoretical this is about the cost of two apple monitors that you could take anywhere. There was a lot of rendered scenes because it’s so hard to convey things. But Apple tends to nail the critical parts of the UX better than the competition. So I’m maybe a little hopeful it’s legit good.
