Tim@dmoser perfect example why a city full of bikes doesn't mean "more livable for pedestrians"
Kytkosaurus@dr_rugby @dmoser Paris is much better for pedestrians now than before these changes began. It's noticeably quieter, cleaner, walking there is really much more enjoyable than 10 or 15 years ago.
The changes are very, very fast and everybody still needs to get used to the new situation on the streets, but what you see in the video is way better compared to the past version of Paris, where most of the people now on bikes would be either in cars or on motorcycles. Much, worse for the pedestrians
@kytkosaurus @dmoser I have not been to Paris recently, but I believe it's true. However, an a*hole will remain an a*hole, no matter how many wheels he is commanding... Also, pedestrians are usually the weakest participants on the street and it doesn't matter if they are ignored by cars or bikes.
Anyways, yes, I prefer bikes to cars a hundred times, but 2 wheels doesn't automatically make people better persons.

Why should it. It's just a really great transport machine, not an angel making machine. But even a real idiot on a bike brings several orders of magnitude lower risk to the people around them than the same idiot in a car. Plus behaving like an idiot on a bike brings much more immediate danger of harm to them personally, which also helps...
