Christ I hate Christopher Eccleston from first exposure already, in G.I.Joe: Rise of Cobra here. Liked him fine& even looked forward to Doctor Who starting again, and then he went & soured himself to me once that finished. Couldn't rly stand him after that.
But then I used to have leniency 4 the "Doctor" in this, 2, SO hoping 4 even some kind of a Cobra. I'm so willing, wanting SMTH at least, forgiving a lot. At _first_.
But you go & fuck things up. Too badly 2 stay w/ it beyond a 1st attempt.
Zartan is still the sexiest thing in it though, things lighting up the moment he shows up, just doing his own thang entirely, stealing the movie from boring AF people. Getting a clean cut someone entirely wrong for Scarlett included. But if they wanted someone you want to shoot on sight, Eccleston is well placed.
Byung-hun Lee is the other star aside #ArnoldVosloo's #Zartan ofc. Just not in it enough, either of them.
So Jonathan Pryce doesn't work for me like Arnold Vosloo does, but I mean, c'mon, President of the United States -powerwhoring potential if you RP things some with Zartan in that form as well.
Add in the far better 2nd movie's Firefly + 2nd movie Cobra Commander in a pinch & that already alluded to sandwich of movie Cobras has big potential. Original Zartan + Firefly mainly. Talk about dangerous sex tho. # Hawt.

Cobra Commander was probably a major kink, Chris Latta's voice working for me. Destro had his animation moments (bc I was 13?) but no. Storm Shadow was fine ofc but ultimately probably not.
Firefly, Zartan, Buzzer (comics more so) yes. Tomax & Xamot. Zandar +Trasher maybe. Beach-Head you 'rude' AF/funny fucker, my main liked Joe.
Mainframe had that 1 epi but I'm mostly just a sucker for villain/hero ships, not him.

So many great voices! Shouty Cobra Commander! Storm Shadow's calm voice! Destro’s deep voice … such great characters. I didn't exactly lust for them, but they were great characters and I practiced their voices for ages. 🤣
I never noticed Firefly much on the show (beyond being aware the character existed and had a flamethrower), took until the live action movie for that character to stand out for me.
@ElysiaMacht I had completely forgotten about Beach-Head. Loved that one. He kinda first registered as "A Snake-Eyes that talks” for me (blame my rudimentary English skills at the time?), just like Serpentor was a different take on Cobra Commander, but he really grows on you.
All I remember about Mainframe was "standard tech guy sidekick”.
@ElysiaMacht Was a big fan of the Dreadnoks though. Cool accents, cool mask power, cool bikes, awesome hairstyles and costumes, and both competent enough to be a threat yet sometimes the butt of a joke. I had the Dreadnok Cycle (with a figure that I thought was Zandar, but he had a black ponytail, maybe that was a change for the Action Force line?), and Zartan of course.
Was especially a fan of ambiguous villains like when Zarana or Destro helped the Joes.

Couldn't get Image 1s after a bit + "You do not kill CC" (in Nic Cage's tone of voice when he beats the guy in Con Air, "You. do not. treat. women. like. that!" line) combined w/ difficulty in getting the TPBs means not much read.
@ElysiaMacht I think they released a TPB around the movies, maybe I can catch up on the comics if I can find that. Not as easy to get as back in the 90ies. And I also don’t remember what G.I. Joe comics I have (beyond one or two Image covers, I think), but my comic shop rarely ordered them until I found one, realized they existed and started explicitly pre-ordering, so not many. Would have to get them out of storage first.
Never really got into Transformers media beyond the toys.
