You know, I want to post more here, but I when there seems to be zero interaction and engagement (even from people who push this platform hard) there seems to be zero point.
@GeraldR it looks like there are plenty of pockets that are thriving, but I'd tend to agree. The ones who are actively building communities on the platform seem to do best, everyone else is left out in the cold
@psaulnier @GeraldR Tbf, I felt the same way on the birdsite 🤷‍♂️
@psaulnier @GeraldR Building an anime community on Mastodon seems to be an especially long haul. It helps to be on a dedicated instance and use its local feed to keep more people included (urusai.social for me) but it still takes conscious effort and my attention's spread very thin these days.
The wheel-spinning is disheartening, but I don't think there's hope of traction without it. I really want this to be the place good people go when they give up on Twitter, and if the feeds are just months of silence punctuated by occasional posts into the void then people will take one look and head for the door.
@tojikomori @psaulnier I definitely hope we can build one on some place other than Twitter. This place seems like the natural fit but also...Japan has to go somewhere and they don't seem to know or care about any of this.
