John Cleese is kinda right: the Loretta scene in Life of Brian surprisingly isn’t offensive (to me at least). It is actually somewhat good trans representation, especially for the time. Loretta states her desires very matter of factly, her and her friends have a realistic discussion about what it means and although they struggle to understand her, they end up pretty quickly accepting her, even immediately apologising for accidentally misgendering her.
