Does the @EU_Commission realize that #ElonMusk does not care if #Twitter is fined for not following the rules‽ Musk is not even paying rent in the buildings he is leasing!

When the #EuropeUnion 🇪🇺 fines Twitter, Musk will probably layoff Twitter employees in #Europe out of spite, & maybe ban #European accounts on the bird site too.

Twitter pulls out of voluntary EU disinformation code

"You can run but you can't hide," commissioner Thierry Breton warns Twitter over upcoming rules.

@darnell @EU_Commission maybe closing all EU offices and blocking Europeans from using Twitter isn’t such a bad thing

@yeri @EU_Commission I doubt blocking will every happen due to the “consensus” mode that is a feature within European governments (I also doubt a majority would vote for a block).

A better option would be to sanction advertisers from doing business with #Twitter & cut off the flow of money to the platform.

@darnell @yeri @[email protected] eu fines are not cheap if it comes to that. They're usually a certain proportion of the total turnover. In GDPR it's either 10 million or 2% of global turnover whichever is higher.

@nemeciii @darnell @yeri @EU_Commission
I don't think there are many businesses doing business with #Twitter any more, and I doubt they are going to pay the fines too.

All these are only piling up liabilities to accelerate its eventual bankruptcy.

Honestly, I wouldn't like to be Twitter creditor... 😅

@kikobar @nemeciii @darnell @EU_Commission still a lot paying for ads though (a lot of dodgy companies too). Not sure about suppliers (cloudflare, for one, still supplies zero trust solutions, but took a lot of work to get them to pay the bill and settled on a smaller $$$ due to ‘massive headcount reduction’)
