After watching our orange balloon float into the White House, winning does not necessarily mean getting the most votes. It can mean fooling enough people to slither through using loopholes and cheats.

@csstrowbridge @randahl Meh. Regimes come and regimes go. Geopolitics remain. If Erdogan went full-autocrat, he'd only be the fourth since Turkey joined NATO.
There's something to be said for rewarding an example of a Muslim state more liberal than Iran or Saudi Arabia. Tbh, the EU deserves some blame for being too xenophobic to reward Turkey's efforts at liberalism, which paved the way for Erdogan's alternative.
