Belief in pirates (by u/Gh0stDestr0y)

When my daughter was little, we would mix up a little oatmeal flakes, some bird seed, and a few other treats that birds love. Then we would go out in the snow and sprinkle the "reindeer food."

While she slept, I went out in the snow and did my best to recreate reindeer tracks. Whenever they didn't look right or disappeared part-way, I blamed the weirdness on the idea that they were FLYING reindeer, and that must have been where they were taking off and landing from.

Naturally, by the time she awoke, birds and other wildlife had eaten all the #reindeer food, so there was never any left of that in the morning, nmw.

I guess it's a case of "what parents won't do for their kids."

That's beautiful and I hope it's true... the story, not the pirates burying treasure in her sandbox.
@wholesomememes So, you're saying that your childhood was a tissue of lies? πŸ˜€
@wholesomememes My mom tried the same thing with me. But she came outside and found I had both neighbors tied up and I was feeding them sand and calling them pirates….
@wholesomememes we had a bunch of gold arcade tokens we weren't going to get to use, so on a beach outing with our nieces and nephew I snuck away to bury them, drew an X on top, and pointed the kids in the right direction to find buried treasure. They were estatic.
@wholesomememes STEALING THIS IDEA. MY POPPLER LOVES PIRATES.
