So... power price spiked this evening. We had lots of kWh in the batts so exported a bit. Earned $46. Had imported some power from the grid last night to cover a 7am price spike, which cost $7.42. Profit of $38.59. It's the closest I have ever come to being a capitalist and I am very disappointed in myself 🤔
Price just spiked up again so we made a bit more... $65 income today 😳
@weezmgk which energy provider is that? I was about to start looking into this myself.

@weezmgk

WOW! In just one day! Admittedly it was beautifully sunny today, but it's almost winter.

@thefathippy we had a cloudless day here today and did put 28kWh into the batts & household power loads but we could have earned this much without solar at all. We can charge from the grid and did pull in 20kWh at about 4AM at about 25c/kWh.
@weezmgk who is your retailer?
@corduroy Amber
@weezmgk oh the app has changed! You’re winning the free market raffle today, well done!
@weezmgk …you’re also making everyone else’s power cheaper so thanks for that
@corduroy The Daily Terrorgraph comment section would beg to differ. The orcs reckon anyone earning solar feed in or selling battery power is making electricity more exxy for the poor... they also want to know for how many minutes the Hornsdale Power Reserve can power South Australia

@weezmgk

You live in the one state that consistently under generates and relies on everyone else:

@odinstoenail yep, plus the gas peakers game the system to whip up price spikes. When a few big batteries eg HPR are built in NSW, the game will be over
@weezmgk Nice, few days like that would really help the pay off time for the battery for sure.
@rolaveric very true. These batts have been in service with a 10.5kW PV array since 2018 and have earned enough both in feed-in and replacement of 31c/kWh grid power that they've repaid about 80% of their purchase prices. We're about to add a 3rd Powerwall2, which is a lot more exxy than the initial pair. Amber will help a lot with that one.
