Make sure not to update your 3DS if you haven't yet, and follow the guide first. And given that the eShop is offline and there's not really first-party sales of titles you want anymore, why not? At the very least, you can rip all your carts to SD card and play them without needing the carts anymore.
Wolf Woods@ceralor small update to this, apparently a workaround has already been found for all the versions besides the us, certain older models apparently don't work with the workaround though and need a flash cart
