It has been said before, but it bears repeating: the elderly who’ve worked their entire lives to get $800 a month on Social Security aren’t bankrupting America. It’s tax-evading billionaires like Trump who are bleeding our country dry.

@Strandjunker

In a democracy, billionaires and wealthy corporations pay what they owe. When they don’t, that’s oligarchy.

@Strandjunker

Just remembered the 2016 debate when Trump insisted he was “smart” for paying next to nothing in personal taxes.

The reply ought to be: “If you cared about the future of our democracy, you’d be like Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, and other billionaires calling for a fairer tax on the ultra-wealthy. If you cared about America as a common undertaking, instead of a zero-sum competition among individuals, you’d know that paying your fair share is a mark of pride.”

@Strandjunker

Also, YES, he said it. Lied about it subsequently because of course he did (sociopath).

Did Donald Trump Say Not Paying Taxes 'Makes Me Smart'?

Donald Trump proclaimed during the first presidential debate that not paying federal taxes made him "smart," then denied having said it.

@Strandjunker

“So the thing you’re talking about and guided by is self-interest. That’s not patriotism; that’s not leadership.”

@xankarn @Strandjunker But that isn't the way of the narcissistic sociopath, so Trump wouldn't have understood.

@CMDR_Royal_Mons @Strandjunker

It’s true. But you don’t debate a fascist to teach him something. Indeed, you don’t debate a fascist. The only reason to share a stage with a fascist is to teach voters something.

@Strandjunker

"Fun Fact: all those all old billionaires still receive #Socialsecurity money they don't even need. Please stop their check and not mine" - someone who needs it

@Strandjunker
Not if you ask #Politico… it’s Social Security and Medicare.
@Strandjunker They have been using Soc Sec surplus for decades to balance up the budget rather than regular taxation. Now they want to avoid having to pay that monster debt back. Amounts to wage theft.
@Strandjunker I guess this counts as communism in your not that great again so far country.
@Strandjunker Was there some news about the debt ceiling negotiations that might be bad news for Social Security?
@Strandjunker that’s my 76 year old mom’s only income - after Section 8, her rent is “only” $600 - she has food stamps and has to pay utilities and insurance. She earned minimum wage and still paid more taxes than many billionaires
@kevinrns @Strandjunker same here in the UK, and that would extend to disabled people, people looking for work and on benefits etc, but the billionaires have the politicians of the world in their pockets.
