Anyone got a good recommendation for a standing desk VESA mount, that's not a $250+ Ergotron LX Tall? The Amazon Basics Ergotron white label that I was planning to use is pretty great but needs to go up 6-9" more for proper positioning.
I remembered that I had some other VESA mounts with rather tall poles. Turns out the Amazon Basic mount fit right on that tall pole and now I'm all set. (Yes I still need to cable manage, center, etc…)

I thought I was going to set things up differently and now I’ve got this thing which I don’t need and I’m sure will get stuck in a drawer for many years.
@paul Good thing that cable only costs like $500.
@gruber @paul Definitely check out monoprice or OWC!
@gruber as much as I hate the Apple tax I’ll say that the year down of that cable was pretty impressive and worthy of some premium.
@paul @gruber I still feel that it is a design flaw that there have to be chips in cables. They should be in the end point devices, no?
@paul @gruber it’s strange how niche these things still are. Thunderbolt is everywhere but nobody needs a long cable? I wonder how many of the optical ones Corning has sold, like ever. Single digit thousands? Perhaps if they added power delivery…
@karppinen power over fiber would be quite the thing :D
@janl yeah, but plenty of hybrid cables like that exist 🤓 My Samsung TV hooks up to its tuner box with one, does something like 40 Gbps over a 15-meter fiber optic cable that also carries all the power the TV needs (so 100-200W?)
