A ridiculous mask study has been retracted: It found “Masks interfered with O2-uptake and CO2-release and compromised respiratory compensation” and concluded “mask wearing should not be mandated let alone enforced by law.” Objections were raised, and the journal investigated, concluding “the complaints were valid and that the article does not meet the standards of editorial and scientific soundness.”

Retraction: Physio-metabolic and clinical consequences of wearing face masks -Systematic review with meta-analysis and comprehensive evaluation

Following publication, concerns were raised regarding the scientific validity of the article. An investigation was conducted in accordance with Frontiers’ policies. It was found that the complaints were valid and that the article does not meet the standards of editorial and scientific soundness for Frontiers in Public Health; therefore, the article has been retracted. This retraction was approved by the Chief Editors of Frontiers in Public Health and the Chief Executive Editor of Frontiers. The authors did not agree to this retraction.

@augieray thanks for this. I was recently told I was endangering my family because of carbon dioxide trapped in masks. I knew this wasn’t true but I can’t say that the exchange was fun.

@augieray Good. If wearing a medical-grade mask for hours at a time were dangerous, hospital operating rooms around the world would be littered with the bodies of dead surgical staff. I'm glad the article was retracted.

@augieray my mom was insistent that oxygen levels plummeted, so I put in a mask and a O2 reader on my finger and voila… 98% O2 rate. Even my own 1-minute test at home debunked that article.
