The Fairness Doctrine was a FCC rule that required broadcast stations to cover public issues and air contrasting views. It was adopted in 1949, repealed in 1987. The FCC and some courts thought it violated the 1st Amendment and discouraged controversy. Now, there is NO federal requirement for local news and information on broadcast media.

Tonight, several stations owned by the evil #Sinclair ended their broadcasting of local news. Both local news shows will be replaced by something called #TheNationalDesk, a nightly NATIONAL new show. Meaning residents in at least five cities will have one less local news outlet. This from a company that says on their website that local news is their backbone.
