I've anecdotally heard from a lot of people that their companies were uncomfortable when they taught themselves how to hack - and I've heard people say they were fired by their companies as a result of learning offensive techniques. Some said it was because their company was concerned about the liability of having a "hacker" on payroll, and others who were concerned that the employee could breach internal systems. Does anyone know of any journalistic coverage of this topic?
@Tarah Which professions, presumably (hopefully) these are not infosec people? How was the subject brought up? Light conversation or practicing on company infrastructure haha.
