#Reminder to all #nonPOC folks - us #POC aren't a #monolith whatsoever. We're all different from culture to culture. From assimilated to non-assimilated. From religious to non-religious. From poverty to born with silver spoons. From vulnerable refugees & marginalized folks & immigrants to elitist billionaires & privileged by money folks.

If you're uncertain what kind of POC you're dealing with - ask us questions, directly. Those of us in active change arenas have zero questions answering them.

I'm very direct in my #communications & that throws many who aren't used to fully direct comms, off. If you're #uncomfy answering my #DirectQuestions - please be #honest enough to say that, from the start & don't try to ask me to do more #decolonization labours for you - when you have #Google & #public #libraries to access; if you truly wanted to figure things out & do better in future.

I got the shit kicked outta me several times. My family was targeted & my brothers were beat up. My parents had vehicles vandalized & my parents told me to keep fighting because those material things can be replaced. I'm grateful for my parents - they knew I was fighting for big changes & supported my fights against colonial systems.

I'm 4'10.5" & weigh less than 80 lbs soaking wet. Not built like average fighter. I'm trained in defensive & offensive kungfu. I have taken down men 150 lbs.

There's something that blows public minds when they get to witness my bruised & bloodied face of social justice & refusing to stop fighting for what's right. Doctor & nurses remember me most for asking how my kid comrades were, when I'm bleeding out on ER floors & on multiple IV lifelines to survive. I was 11 years old.

At 11 - I retained more courage & commitment to human decency than almost adults here who have tried to preach goodness to me but never risked much personally to fight back.
