Here we go, this is my Eurovision 2023 thread. Get ready to party like it’s 2006!

All rise for the European gay anthem! 🎶🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🎶
#eurovision #ESC
Quite different version of last year’s winner. At least it still has the flutes.
#eurovision #ESC
And there’s the obligatory Verka. Personally, I would have preferred hearing all of Shum again, though. I really liked it two years ago.

Austria probably has the second catchiest chorus of the evening. And the background visuals are amusing. But I think we can quoth the raven about their chances of winning with this one.
#eurovision #ESC
Portugal has rhythm and is very red. They also seem to share Spain’s love for hearts.
#eurovision #ESC
Switzerland’s entry sounds a lot like several different entries from earlier years.
#eurovision #ESC
Poland has a reasonably catchy summer song with a tacked on dance number.
#eurovision #ESC
Serbia has poor man’s Trent Reznor. With a poor man’s Gundam animation.
#eurovision #ESC
And the tallest dress award goes to France. The song itself sounds like a very generic French affair, sorry. Builds a little towards the end, but not enough.
#eurovision #ESC
Cyprus still relies mainly on the male gaze. Only this time it’s for gay men instead of straight ones. The song itself reminds me way too much of Duncan Laurence’s Arcade from a few years ago with those whooo-oooo-oooos.
#eurovision #ESC
Spain was certainly different. I would have expected something like this more from the Eastern European countries.
#eurovision #ESC
Sweden is one of the biggest front runners for the winner, and Loreen is unquestionably a great performer, but the whole thing feels perhaps a bit too calculated, and the song still isn’t quite on the same level with Euphoria. And those nails…
#eurovision #ESC
Albania brings in the whole family business, literally. Song isn’t bad, but not a winner, either.
#eurovision #ESC
Italy threatens to blow up the Moon! They sure aren’t blowing up the stage…
#eurovision #ESC
Estonia with an automatic fake piano. And a ballad. But next up…
#eurovision #ESC
Finland’s entry starts up like a poor man’s Rammstein pastiche, but it has the catchiest chorus of them all this year, and the performance gets even crazier towards the end. The pink human centipede…
#eurovision #ESC
Yeah, it’s not technically the best singing, but the crowd does seem to love it.
#eurovision #ESC
Czechia has a great style with the all pink outfits and the killer ponytails, but I wish they would have left out the gratuitous English from the song.
#eurovision #ESC
Australia, everyone’s favourite honorary Europeans, with a decent synth rock song. And a car on stage.
#eurovision #ESC
Belgium has a big hat, and the song isn’t terrible, but it’s an utterly average Eurovision fare that comes thirteen to a dozen.
#eurovision #ESC
Armenia has a dance number interlude, too. And tilts the entire stage.
#eurovision #ESC
Moldova often sends in my favourite performances, and this year is no exception. The costumes! The horn hairdos! The epic flute faun!
